This course is approved by the OLF and complies with requirements set out in the OLF/NR recommended guidelines for safety and emergency training.

 

Course Content
  • Emergency/Organisation
  • Aims and principles of first aid
  • Head to Toe Survey
  • Management of the unconscious casualty
  • Bleeding and traumatic amputation
  • Abdominal injuries
  • Loss of Circulation
  • Head Injuries
  • Back and neck injuries
  • Burns and caustic injuries, including electrical and radiation
  • Fractures
  • Measuring Blood Pressure
  • Chest pains (Cardiac Illness)
  • Breathing Difficulties and seizures
  • Basic life support (CPR), including the use of defibrillators, the use and maintenance of manual resuscitators, manual suction devices, oropharyngeal airways and Oxygen supplies
  • Assisting the nurse in the administration of an infusion
  • Cold injuries - Hypothermia
  • Mental reactions and dealing with stress (during accidents and disasters)
  • Accident site with several injured-Triage at the scene of an accident
  • Chest Injuries

 

Completion:

On successful completion of the course, the delegate will receive an OLF approved, Basic First Aid Certificate. This is valid for 2 years. All delegates also receive a free pack including an up-to-date first aid manual.
